PRODUCT SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR REPLACING THE INJECTOR HOLD DOWN CLAMP AND REWORKING THE REAR EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT SHIELDS ON CERTAIN C175-20 LOCOMOTIVE ENGINES

This Program must be administered either before or after failure.In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS45722" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code.If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
The existing injector hold down clamp may not retain the injector properly on certain C175-20 Locomotive Engines. If the existing clamp fails it can/will cause combustion gas to escape into the injector sleeve.
The existing rear exhaust manifold heat shield comes in contact with the rear exhaust manifold bellow on certain C175-20 Locomotive Engines. If the existing heat shield is not reworked it can/will cause an exhaust leak.

ACTION REQUIRED
Replace the injector hold down clamps in accordance with Disassembly and Assembly, M0067480, "Electronic Unit Injector - Remove" and "Electronic Unit Injector - Install".
Rework the rear heat shields per the attached Rework Procedure.
