The fuel injection pumps leaks at the throttle lever shaft on some 3054 Engines used in M312 and M315 Wheel Excavators. To prevent this leakage caused through excessive wear at the seals of the shaft a new linkage and actuator bracket has been developed. In addition the power modes will be set to constant mode pressures to prevent loss of performance through the break-in of the injection pump after a period of operation.

Rework Procedure
1. Replace the present 1272230 Fuel Injection Pump with a new one of same part number, only if machine is exceeding 25 hours.2. Replace the current governor actuator linkage with the new one.3. Adjust High- and Low-Idle at the engine. Re-calibrate and reset mode 1, 2 and 3 pressures, according to the attached procedure.
Illustration 1 Fuel Pump Replacement:
If the machine has accumulated more than 25 SMU, the fuel pump has to be replaced.
1. Drain the coolant below the level of the water pump, remove the water pump.2. Disconnect the fuel injection lines from the pump and the cables and the connection for the cold start device.3. Refer to the supplement "Lucas Fuel System" Form Number SENR6525, June 1995 for removal of the previous fuel injection pump. Follow the procedure for REPLACING the fuel injection pump carefully. For greater accuracy in timing the new pump to the engine, the crankshaft needs to be set at 100 degrees before TDC. Use a 1271069 Timing Pin to do the setting. New fuel injection pumps from Parts Stock for this rework will be locked and marked at 340 degree. Once 100 degrees before TDC is found on the engine, do not rotate the crankshaft
